Fort Collins is One of the Nation’s Top 10 Fitness-Friendly Cities

Does one of your New Year’s resolutions include getting more fit? Lucky for you, Fort Collins is one of the top 10 most fitness-friendly cities in the United States, according to a new SmartAsset study.

From city-owned facilities to climbing walls to yoga to full-service locally owned health clubs with pools, Fort Collins residents have numerous, high-quality, nationally recognized options. The city has 111 fitness establishments out of every 10,000 total establishments, the 13th-most in this study.

Fort Collins ranked number 9 where Smart Asset compared 284 metro areas across the following metrics: percentage of residents who bike to work, fitness professionals per 10,000 workers, fitness establishments per 10,000 residents, percentage of restaurants that serve fast food and the average wage of personal trainers. Around 5.2% of residents walk or bike to work, the 34th-most out of all the areas reviewed.
